Went to see Yee Fen off at the airport 2 days ago… saw MP too after such a long time, he kept his distance, as usual. She was sharing that she closed her previous blog coz it was too cryptic and negative. Throughout these 3 years, many things happened around us. So i guess it’s a good closure for her and me as well (since i can no longer tell her about him, him and him… )
Now saving hard to visit her in Melbourne.
Jean’s wedding
Mike and I rehearsed like mad for our emcee part. I actually wrote down the script in CHINESE… twice coz i can’t speak without my script. I went around the day before to record colleagues’ and students’ well wishes, and the students laughed their heads off watching the “behind the scenes” video.
On the hen night, we went MOS, didn’t get the chance to dance coz was looking after bags… *hint hint (babe, it’s your bag la) … haha… was learning to do the shuffle… guess these old bones just cannot make it… but i can do the bicycle dance… think MC hammer.
There was a part when DJ was playing Tom Jones… Cherry and I went crazy, rushed to the dance floor and suddenly Tom Jones became “tet-no”. We walked back to the table in despair.
Life lessons
Life lesson No. 1:
Right after my usual prayer, i drove outta the carpark and realised Xiaolan’s new shoe is punctured. I was still driving Neng and Zel around the night before. Thank God. Sounding so bimbotic and helpless, i asked kor kor to drive all the way down to help me with the tyre. Being a kinaesthetic learner, he demo, i do. So i boldly declare that i can now change a tyre !!! But this life lesson from kor kor is very valuable.
Doing a 60km/hr on the expressway is so irritating… even lorries and vans overtook Xiaolan.
Life lesson No. 2:
My mom taught my sis and i how to sew last sun.
Life lesson No. 3?
Let’s see, what life lessons did papa teach me? We went lunch one Sun afternoon, awkward silence, so we would end every sentence with …”very funny hor”. Is that a life lesson in itself? Yee Fen used to be puzzled why I always say “funny right? so and so did this mean thing… blah blah blah”.
But along the way, he would ask me to look out for houses with landscaping; how tall the tree in my house will grow to be like the roadside ones and provide shade for the house, how we should take risk, and encouraged me to pick up golf … A “funny” afternoon.
Hanging out
We have been hanging out after work and weekends… nice. Wii, Ben and Jerry’s, tennis, long conversations, silly things…
Found a fish spa along Amber road and 3 of us happily drove there though all of us have different expectations; Cherry expected to have a nice foot bath before dipping her feet in a pool of fishes. I expected nice yoga-ish background music as lil fishes nibble on my dead skin.
Finally, the fish spa turns out to be a landscaping shop, the “pool of fishes” was in those big tubs, the foot bath was water sprayed onto our feet with a garden hose, no background music, no air-con (but there was a big fan like those in the kopitiam). With 3 pairs of feet, the limited fishes were spoilt for choice, and the tub is so high, i could only submerge my toes… damn. Best of all, there were shoppers buying plants and the cashier is just right behind us…
The students accompanied us for one of the FIT sessions (after much pleaing). My quota for the year is reached. The previous time i went for FIT was during orientation 
Food
There will always be food in our aisle. Everyone chips in with biscuits and chocolates so we could just gobble some when we are stressed. Recently Cherry baked cookies and Douglas’ wife made quiche. It’s nice to come back to the cubi and find tea or sweets on the table.
“I couldn’t copy my old phonebook to my new phone - but going by the obsession with sweets, breakfast and potential fats, it can only be one person! Yahoo. Miss Nat … cupcakes!!!” Douglas smsed.

When cats sleep…
After 1 year of owning Forrest, I finally went to do research on cat’s body language and gesture. One site reads “when the cats exposes their bellies, it means they trust you (but it’s very common for FAT cats as it’s more comfortable for them)”… Sigh, Ah bui…
Andrew’s resignation
Last but not least, Andrew smsed all of us simultaneously that he has resigned. It was so sudden that, the whole nite Neng, Zel and Raymond called to ask what has happened. A meeting was quickly called so he could tell us his story. Maybe it’s good that I’m not teaching there this sem, all the micro-managing is ridiculous. Raymond always says, “we are professionals OKAY?”
