To keep my sanity …

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I have been so busy this holiday period that one afternoon, i just had to take half day off and take a stroll along chinatown, visiting the hor fun place papa used to bring us.

Of Belts and chains…

After that, went to people’s park to buy the stuff i needed to make belts and necklaces… guess the DIY stuff alleviated some stress off me.

Jean’s new house

Yay… jean has got her new pad; she kept stressing that we can have 2 majong tables simultaneously. Haha… we were just goofing around with David’s camfo helmet… i like…

I found u…

The search for the sharpener is over. Criteria - it must sharpen into long curls and a short point (unlike the china ones, which sharpens to a long point that you can poke your buddy with). Best part was that it was found at the most unlikely place, PageOne at Vivo.

I am crazy …

about online shopping. For my first ever item bought online, aiyo, i kept refreshing my inbox to check if the seller replied my email, then waited anxiously for the parcel to arrive… it felt good… it feels like sending a gift to yourself, more so when christmas was a few days away.

* laughed at me for being such a noob. When the person signed off as LJ, i still replied her email and thot her name was LiJuan, LiJing or whatever… only did i come to realise myself that it stands for LiveJournal.. bozo…

Christmas gathering

Christmas came and went, we managed to have a nice bbq at home and pretended to be in a cold place … jokers. It was a good chance to have a “meeting” with my bro and sis to discuss the fate of xiaolan.

Went back to Grace church with Andrew and family, and back to singing carols in chinese, and back to familiar faces. Ironically after church service, i had a gathering with zhihua and friends at wine arcade. It was a nice nite in the company of good friends and jokes. I could barely walk after that, gawd…

Christmas eve was spent with May Leng at the other church and luckily Emma liked the Hello Kitty bag. And she gave me a chicken pie Nan made… memories of de chicken pie.

Nice people - Alastair and gang invited Cherry and I over for gift exchange cum food party. The food was soollleeeddd…. hangsen’s mom’s tom yum soup lagi soolllleeeeddd…
and yes… i’m so blessed.

Joyous kopis… that’s what douglas wrote on the pressie…. haha…
Nice to be in the spirit of receiving… from Cherry babe, Jean, Rick,Mike, *, and other folks

Post christmas

Our post christmas meet-up, chilling at cuppage terrace, talking about raymond’s thinning mane and tini’s friend- the rice queen. We shall do a post new year get-together at seletar reservoir for photo-taking… yay.

Looking back…

Ah bui is too big for his tent, his head sticks out. Tell me that he’s getting thinner please…

i came back from drinking - tauhuay session with andrew last nite and was motivated to finish the Last Lecture book douglas gave for my bdae. And i did. Lesson learnt: to make full use of your time, be thankful, charge through the brickwall, have integrity. “time is all you have…and you may find one day that you have less than you think”

It was a good book to begin the new year with :)

Now onto my next book : Pedra Branca (everyone asks me if i was into political studies, and the answer is no)

Happy New Year!

Rawkers

I-can’t-believe-it’s-dec!
On average, i get 4 hours a day of sleep for the past month. Thankfully, buddies have seen me through. Everyone was so exhausted but the show must go on, we must rawkz and still must block. The students were of a great help too. After that, the vicious cycle followed…

IMIND day = IMI + IND

This year, we didn’t manage to form a staff team coz most of them were occupied.

My class won the basketball! woohoo… coz there were only 2 teams, but we did thrash the other team. The juniors won in captain’s ball and soccer too! We shall show our speriority again next year!

Chrissy Boba

Dammit! Another traffic violation. That’s 3x in 2 months! In HCI sense, severity rating = 4!
Xiaolan, you MUST stop thinking you are still young!

The otherwise ever-cool-looking Boba, he now looks ridiculous with chrissy lites drapped around the gun. Next year, i’ll put vader up. My stormy can go on leave till next year :)

Haha… guess this is the only thing to remind me christmas is coming.

Like that also can

This lazy ah bui, can sleep anywhere but since I havn’t been spending enough time with him… he would take all opportunities to cuddle up next to me (in this case, my foot)

Comfort Food

All it takes is for someone to say “let’s eat oustide”, we would all jump for joy and hop into the car. We would shop like some deprived kids and we would always say “hey, buy this… this is so you… “. I’m not good with temptations, so i always end up buying.

We would never get tired of going Ikea, the minimalist and innovative design approach to this Swedish brand never fails to amaze us.

Pong!

Papa never taught us to “gamble”; that’s why my majong skills is still at beginner’s level after so many years and i don’t possess any strategic thinking skills. My heart cannot withstand the tension when i bet, the “what ifs”.
We used to be able to keep all the majong tiles and fold the table in 2 mins when we hear papa’s car coming through the gates. So sis organised a majong session when the stars were aligned, kids on holidays, i’m free (on a sat!), mom not going for her facials…

Never have gambler’s luck… always 1 step away from winning. Chey…

Almost every saturday, katrina will buy chicken rice and cold crab for our dinner. And also a good chance to know the happenings in our family, in other words … gossip time.

Foreign Talent

It was a night where we were continously served by “foreign talents” from place to place. We were never biased against them but due to language and cultural barrier, andrew had to demand for his change, our orders were missed out at the eatery, and i signed the wrong receipt at the beer place.

Don told me he was at shop & save and a foreign talent asked an Indian customer at point blank “你说什么?”

Pinic

After hearing from a fren, we decided to have a picnic at the marina barrage! i dug out my pinic mats, my layang (owl one some more), pumped the soccer ball, mike was in charge of the food…

Cherry still messaged me the nite before “i wanna kick ball”.
For me, I wanna fly layang!

Drove all the way there and realise it’s not like the old marina south - the big pinic place … alamak how to fly layang sia…

So we just walked around, took pics… then it drizzled. And it ended our “picnic” session and headed for sushi.

hey hey… cherry babe and i can join the synchronise swimming team man…
